The Boys are Back in Town

I'm psyched. Chris (volleyball, aka The Thin Man) and Ryan (basketball, aka PB&J) are about to begin their senior year of high school, after a very busy and successful summer competition schedule. They know they have a great deal of work to do, but they are ready. It is time to get busy and get beastly!

How do you adjust their training based off the very consistent interruptions to training common to the high school and/or college athlete?

EVP,

I have to roll with the interruptions and do the best I can. Try to keep the general theme going, but make daily workout adjustments when necessary. I had the luxury of being good friends with Chris' club coach and high school coach, so I had access to his schedule for the whole year and tried to anticipate problem times. I have learned to not get too caught up in the gory details at this age, but it is frustrating sometimes and I have to remind the boys to always communicate to me what they do in practice/competition because it greatly affects what I can do with them. They both know the importance of rest, eating, pool, etc.

Hope this helps.

Keep up the good work Tracy! Both are looking strong. My client, Mike Sullivan, said "she watches them like a hawk." I replied "because she's a great trainer." Pleasure to have you all here....even though you make us all feel short!
